Yahoo Sports – Remembering Ted May: The Unsung Hero Behind the Travelers Championship’s Success

“I remember Ted and his father from Granby street in Hartford. He and his good friends Roger Gelfenbien and Alex Lloyd  were part of a group that would go south in the early spring to play golf for several days. Ted was always full of life and generous to newcomers like me.  We had great matches but the friendship built around golf lasted for many years. He and Debbie were true pioneers for  The Travelers event and The First Tee. Wonderful man and a tribute to many.” – David Marks, First Tee – Connecticut Board of Directors

“Ted was one of the very first people I met when I joined First Tee 25 years ago. He will be missed.” – Jennifer Weiler SVP, Network Relations, First Tee

“I’m very sorry to hear about Ted’s passing. Not everyone leaves a legacy quite like his, and for that I am sure his loved ones and the broader First Tee CT chapter are immensely proud. May he rest in peace.” – Marisa Bianchi, Director of Sponsorships, Mastercard

My father loved “Teddy,” as my dad called him, like a little brother. Ted was a quiet leader with too many wonderful characteristics to mention. I will always admire his determination, vision of the future, sense of humor, and kindness to all people. RIP Ted 🙏 – Chris Mersereau, Son of Former First Tee – Connecticut board member Paul Mersereau
